Emogene Mitchell takes extra care to hand-pick each member of the Mitchell's team — each of whom shares our vision, embraces our mission, and has a passion for customer care and service. Collectively we have more than 50 years of hands-on experience as meeting planning professionals — covering the entire spectrum of meeting support areas. We enjoy working with each other and enjoy what we do. We seamlessly become a part of our client's team, support our client's mission, and are a bright and positive influence to all people we come in contact with. 


Events we have planned include workshops, corporate board meetings, international meetings, study tours, multi-day conferences, and large annual meetings. Our clients find added value from our team’s experience in having worked both sides of the table within the conference and events industry and bringing a diverse set of skills, knowledge and abilities that you do not always find in other event companies. Emogene Mitchell

Mitchell’s Meetings and Events was formed in 2003 and is headed by Emogene Mitchell. Emogene has more than 20 years of experience in meeting and event management, planning conferences, meetings, events, and study tours across the United States and abroad. She is well respected in the industry and is often sought out to offer strategic thinking in best practices in the field. Emogene is known first as a person with high standards of integrity, and secondly for her innovation and “out of the box” thinking that has led to some of the most successful meetings and events over the last decade. She is a leader in the industry. Emogene received her BA from The George Washington University.


Emogene is supported by a team of seasoned professionals, each with an average of 15 years of experience. The management team includes:


Kelli A. Bland

As an experienced meeting and event professional, Kelli has been involved in developing, managing, and producing successful meetings, special events, conferences, conventions, and expositions for more than 15 years. She has served in a variety of hotel management positions that include, restaurants, catering, banquet, and sales for Marriott International before working as a Food and Beverage Executive for Holiday Inn Select and Hilton. Her diverse background in a variety of hotel convention services and sales positions has aided her with managing successful annual conventions and events. Kelli’s experience also extends to working with corporate, non-profit and association clients as well as other independent meeting planners. She is currently a member of Professional Convention Management Association, (PCMA), and the National Association of Women Business Owners, (NAWBO), Washington, DC Chapter. Kelli is a graduate of Hampton University with B.A. in Psychology.


Kimberly Ross

A high-energy event public relations and planning professional with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, Kimberly has extensive experience in event promotion, creation and coordination. Her combination of event development and implementation, creativity planning events with large to nonexistent budgets, and extensive background with non-profit and government related projects makes her an invaluable team member. Kimberly also brings excellent qualifications in strategic planning with comprehensive knowledge of management, organizational development, team building and project execution. Kimberly is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations.


Jon Milburn

Very creative and a good ear for what’s needed. Winner of multiple Addy awards, including a Best of Show and Silver Regional Addy Award. 25 years experience in the Design, Advertising and Marketing fields. Work ranges from numerous associations, education institutions, healthcare

and high tech firms. Jon has served as Creative Director for large and small associations and handled projects from all conference and meetings materials to direct marketing, publications and web development. On the corporate side, Jon has managed work from identity efforts to print, web and exhibit material. Jon is a graduate of The University of Tennessee with a BFA in communication design with honors and a minor in Advertising.
